About Nana
When she was not yet two, Amelia took my face into her sweet little hands and declared with great surprise, “Nana has wrinkles!” Those wrinkles might reflect my physical age, but they do not reflect my desire to stop learning or harbor the belief that I know it all.
Though an educator for over 35 years, I feel as though I’m just now beginning to get it. This blog reflects my desire to continue to grow professionally and navigate emerging trends and issues in teaching and learning.
My delight in the small children I love is also documented here, as are my often futile endeavors to photograph their adventures.
Reading is my activity of choice when the littles aren’t around. Escaping into other worlds always makes me happy.
Finally, this site will document my awkward and often embarrassing attempts to age with grace in a society that spares no words.

having recently retired after 42 years of teaching kindergarten,I found much to enjoy in your blog….have read many of the same books you mentioned and got ideas for other to try….am also a grandmother to a brilliant but socially inappropriate Asberger’s child who daily amazes and frustrates me….hope to read more of your writings…:)
Thanks for your kind words, Patricia. Glad you stopped by!
I can’t begin to imagine the frustration your grandchild must feel on a daily basis. He/she is lucky to have a Grandmother with a background of concern for children and an understanding heart.
Look forward to hearing more feedback from you!
